Attention 5th grade parents!
Today your student’s Academic and Career Plan (ACP) is being sent home. The ACP is a planning document for middle school that every child in VBCPS is required to complete. The purpose of the ACP is to give students an opportunity to make academic and career goals for middle school and beyond, as well as to provide an opportunity to begin to explore the different academic offerings available in VBCPS. Your child previously took a Career Interest Inventory on the VA View website. The results of this inventory are listed on the ACP. You will see that the Academy Programs, Advanced Academic Programs, and Technical and Career Education Programs available for high school students are also listed. More information about all of these programs, as well as all updated course offerings can be found in the VBCPS Student Guide (see link below). This is a great opportunity to talk about future academic and career plans with your child. The VA View website can give you a more in depth look into career clusters and the 2017-2018 Student Guide outlines all secondary school curriculum for VBCPS. The following websites were introduced during a classroom guidance lesson and you may find them helpful:
Please sign and return the ACP to school by Wednesday, March 21st ACPs are for planning purposes only. This does not change or impact your student’s middle school registration
